Volunteer Opportunities

On-Going:

Guides are needed to escort visitors, classroom groups, and pre-registered tour groups through the property on Fridays, and Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and on Sundays from 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM.  There will be scripts and training available.

Museum Store Personnel will be required to sticker, place and sell merchandise in the soon-to-open sales facility. Hours will be the same as tour guides at this time.

Tavern Nights are a once-a-month Friday nights designed for the public to go back in time to a tavern of the 18~ century while enjoying a fine dining experience . Help at this time is needed for behind-the-scenes support of the costumed re-enactors who will do the actual food service and hearth cooking demonstrations. NOTE: Alcoholic beverages are served as part of this meal.

History In A Box is a program designed around the public school curriculums for the
fifth and ninth grades as a part of their colonial history studies. A chest of costumes,
artifacts, and reproductions of common items as well as scripts designed by high school
teachers will be delivered in the fall. Volunteers will be needed to go into the classrooms
in period attire to int
eract with the students and enhance the experience. Training will be
provided for these interpreters. Volunteers may also be needed at the Bachmann Publick
House when student groups come to participate in mock courtroom cases based on actual
records of Northampton County trials which were held at the site from 1754-1758 until
the construction of the first courthouse.

Periodic:

Research opportunities will arise from time to time as new or additional programs are
developed which could be of interest to history buffs/majors or graduate students who
may want to farther their own research projects or gain the additional skills such research
could provide.
